My Story

Walking the Path,
Walking with God
That is what best describes my journey. When it comes to walking this life I ultimately follow God's path and He is always there to comfort me in good times and in bad. My relationship with God most certainly shows in my work. I am here to let Him work through me to lend gentle, helping hands to those who are hurting and want healing.

I was born in Placerville and raised in the small community of Pleasant Valley on the outskirts of the city. It is in Pleasant Valley where I have my private practice and live with my supportive, loving husband and our three adorable therapy cats. My husband and I enjoy collecting antiques to create a nostalgic feel to our home.

I am a quiet and reserved person which makes me a good listener. As someone who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), I understand how important it is for a health practitioner to really listen. For too long I struggled with depression, pain and fatigue not realizing how much they had to do with each other. How frustrating it was to not have a diagnosis but even worse was having my illness dismissed altogether.

My goal is to help others going through similar journeys. To be the support that is so important to have when coping with chronic illness and the mental/emotional pains it may cause or vise versa. Your trauma is valid no matter how insignificant or major it is perceived to be. Trauma changes our brains and our bodies remember.
Behind
the
Name
Whispering Hands Wellness is the name of my practice but it says a lot about how I practice. Every aspect of the name is represented in my logo. "Whispering" is the horse that reflects the gentle approach to therapeutic relationships. "Hands" is of course representing the tool used to assist healing. "Wellness" is the symbol of yin & yang which stands for balance.
As a faith based practice, the initials of the name, WH, have a profound meaning as well. It is well known that God's name is spelled as YHWH. His name is pronounced with the sound of the natural breath. The intake of breath being YH and exhaling as WH. In deep breathing practices it is said that breathing out is what relaxes the body. Relaxation, of course, is the main goal here at Whispering Hands Wellness.
My Professional Background
My interest in reflexology began around 2010 when I decided to go into the holistic health field. At the time I was in a rut and God was urging me to make a change. Reflexology was then brought to my attention as one of many methods out there for the purpose of holistic healing. The concept of reflexology theory and technique fascinated me. I spent years contemplating the idea of becoming a Reflexologist however as the chaotic world swept me up, I never acted on it. Fortunately, the events of 2020 presented a golden opportunity of again making a change. I spent much of my "isolation" time getting closer to God when my husband asked, "Well, what do you want to do?" Of course, I want to be a Reflexologist! In 2021 I started my training to become a Reflexologist through The International Institute of Reflexology with instructor Bobbi Warren in San Diego, Ca. Bobbi has been heavily involved in the reflexology field since the 80's, so I learned from the absolute best. We were both emotional when it came time for Bobbi to announce I had passed my exams and was officially a Reflexologist in 2022. From that point on I did anything and everything to advance my education and training in reflexology. My next endeavor, as instructed by Bobbi, was to earn Board Certification through the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB). In 2023, I traveled to Seattle, Washington to earn my certification.
It was there I was told about a form of reflexology from the UK called Reflexology Lymph Drainage. My curiosity was peeked and I went on to take the course. I was blown away with how relaxing the technique was. I almost fell asleep working on myself! Everything was coming together with all my training and witnessing how different reflexology techniques all had the same meditative benefit. I knew it was time to circle back to finding my niche. Through professional connections, I discovered Reflexology for Trauma and Addiction training. All my life I was always trying to improve my mental health after going through certain painful events. My husband has truly been my inspiration for getting more involved with mental health after becoming a support for him and his lifelong struggle with Bipolar Disorder. I made it my mission to discover as much as I could about the nervous system, the effect of trauma and how the body is affected physically as well as mentally. I am currently undergoing extensive training in Reflexology for Trauma to earn my certification in proficiency. With this work I hope to accomplish helping people like my husband experience safety and balance in mental health while finding relief from chronic illness symptoms. I have experience working with veterans with PTSD, Parkinson's, Bipolar Disorder, chronic migraines, lymphedema, neuropathy, diabetes management and cancer recovery.
